French Toast Brioche
Thick-cut brioche soaked in vanilla custard, caramelized to perfection. Weekend mornings were made for this.
Ingredients
- 4 thick slices brioche bread (about 1.5 inches)
- 3 large eggs
- 3/4 cup whole milk
- 2 tbsp heavy cream
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- Pinch of nutmeg
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter
- Maple syrup, for serving
- Fresh berries, for garnish

Whisk together the eggs, milk, heavy cream, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and nutmeg in a shallow bowl until fully combined.

Lay the brioche slices in the custard mixture and let them soak for 30 seconds per side.

Heat a large non-stick skillet over medium heat. Add 1 tablespoon of butter and let it melt until foaming.

Place 2 soaked brioche slices in the pan. Cook for 3-4 minutes until deep golden brown.

Flip carefully and cook the other side for another 2-3 minutes.

Repeat with remaining butter and brioche. Serve immediately with maple syrup and fresh berries.
